visit local    buy local     stay local My Local Indiana Welcomes the Season!

Local farmers markets will soon be open all across the state, bringing the wonderful, local products that we have waited all winter to enjoy! Our Hoosier farmers are currently rushing to get ready (more about that later) to bring the very best that our diverse Midwest agriculture can supply.

My Local Indiana welcomes this season, and encourages you to check out your local market at every opportunity! As you travel around the state this summer, be sure to shop other markets that you come across. They are certain to have some incredible products that you simply cannot find in grocery and "big box" stores.

Since most markets require "locally-grown produce", the products to be found first will consist primarily of leafy greens like lettuces, spinach, asparagus, and even bedding plants for your own garden. These offerings will soon be followed with fresh strawberries and green onions, then summer squashes. Arriving in mid-June to July, we start finding warm-weather crops, like tomatoes, peppers, beans, and summer squash. As with any produce you purchase at a grocery store, ALWAYS be sure to wash produce before enjoying it!!
